Stupid people are the math co-processors of the human race.

Anarchy

August 27th, 2005

I’m busy studying science, philosophy and art This was the reward found quite by accident! I tried to link to the so called Anarchy and it didn’t work. The site is very random, but within it’s pages there is a sheep doing the oddest thing.

Utah SWAT breaks up a permitted rave

August 25th, 2005

Just saw it over on Digg. UT police swarm a rave and arrest 26 people, beat up who knows how many.

Story from somebody who was there. Also has links to a video and the local Sheriff’s statement. Move vids here.

Hey Lucid, did you hear about this or know anybody there?

Kirby Canvas Curse

August 25th, 2005

I finished Kirby Canvas Curse today and like I said in an earlier post I was impressed. The gameplay is deceptively simple, requiring you to draw rainbow lines to guide Kirby (who has been turned in to a pink ball by the witch Drawcia) around the levels. As such the only control mechanism available to you is the stylus, no other buttons are used. Enemies are poked to stun them after which you draw a line or poke Kirby to dispatch them. Very fun and amazingly original.

The boss battles are a little weird. Only one of the bosses actually requires you to fight it. The other two are defeated by racing with them or successfully mimicking a connect the dots board. Also despite the existence of 6 levels prior to the final boss there are only three bosses all of which are fought twice. This makes things difficult if, like me, you had trouble with one of the game types the boss presents (barely made it through the race sequence).

All in all a very fun game but one word of advice, be sure to collect the medals and cash them in. You’ll need the extra hit points for the final battle.

Not enough hours in the day.

August 24th, 2005

I need to find some useless activity that I perform during the day that can be safely removed. I say this because I don’t have nearly enough hours in my day to do what I want and need to do. Like right now I’m in the middle of Kirby Canvas Curse and Final Fantasy I (part of Final Fantasy I&2: Dawn of Souls) and I have no clue what I’m going to do once We Love Katamari comes out. I guess I’ll just have to finish both Kirby and FF1 before then.

I’ve recently come to the conclusion that I need to go through our back catalog and finish some of the older games that we have. Since I find the current fall release schedule to be rather un-exciting I figured now would be as good a time as any. Right after We Love Katamari of course.

Nintendo DS

August 21st, 2005

I finally got one.

After months of waiting and drooling I finally got one. Actually I bought three today which makes a grand total of four in the house (Densoro got one for his b-day earlier this month). Two silver, two blue, all awesome. This is of course in preparation for the release of Animal Crossing DS which hits November 21st. Animal Crossing is highly revered in our house and it seemed wrong not to have everybody be able to play it at the same time. So we pooled our resources and got four DS units.

Anyway, while hunting for the hardware this morning I decided to pick up Kirby: Canvas Curse for myself. This is the first Kirby game that I’ve owned and I have to say that I am extremely impressed. You don’t use anything other than the stylus for this one. Kirby is controlled by pokes and prods and is directed via rainbow lines that you draw on the screen. Good stuff and highly recommended if you have a DS.

More thoughts on the X-Box 360 price.

August 17th, 2005

I was just going over the aftermath of the 360 price leaks and subsequent confirmations and I though of a way to fix things for us now and in the future.

DON’T FUCKING BUY IT!

That’s right, I said it out loud. I know we all were thinking it but I’m the only one who said it. Now when I say “don’t fucking buy it” I mean don’t fucking buy it, ever. Even if they drop the price to 20 bucks a week after launch don’t do it. The people who came up with this bullshit need to suffer and this is the only (legal) way to do it. Fuck X-Box 360, fuck Halo 3, and fuck you Microsoft! You won’t be getting my money anytime soon.

(And as he finished typing his tirade against the forces of evil he let out a deep sigh knowing full well that when Halo 3 comes out he will be forced to purchase one of the cursed machines. For deep inside the bowels of his castle lived an annoying little troll who loves him some Halo.)

So Basically it’s going to cost $399

August 17th, 2005

Just saw this on Evil Avatar.

I’m a bit upset about it. $299 for what amounts to a crippled system with most of the really cool features missing. Which means that if you want the system that been advertised on MTV and at E3 then you will be paying over $400 before you’ve even gotten a game for the fucking thing.

Good job Microsoft, I never saw it coming.

The Coffee Maker Broke

August 17th, 2005

Sorry about the lack of a post yesterday. Our coffee maker has been leaking and I made us go get a new one last night. We ended up with this one. No special features to speak of beyond the auto shut-off and delayed brewing, but in the function for which it was intended it stands unrivaled by any of the other kitchen appliances. That is to say it makes coffee like a mofo and thus fuels the household. Long live the Mr. Coffee machine.

We love Katamari

August 15th, 2005

I’m taking this opportunity to put everyone on notice that We Love Katamari comes out 21 days from today. If you don’t know what I’m taking about and you haven’t played Katamari Damacy yet then I hate you and I want you to leave now!

No…wait…I’m just a little excited…please don’t go…please…we already don’t have any readers…please come back…

Anyway, We Love Katamari is the sequel to Katamari Damacy which is the most original, fun, and exciting game in recent memory. If you don’t have KD go get it and don’t expect it to make any sense because the developers were on drugs when they made it.

And be certain to get We Love Katamari on September 6th or incur my wrath.
