Sorry I Missed Our Date

December 15th, 2004

Yesterday was totally nuts and I missed my blog for the day. I’m not even entirely sure the computer got turned on at all when I got home from work. Work sucked as usual but I did get a call from Bitrott indicating that he was in town and I would be meeting him for drinks this evening. I’m sure he said it in a less demanding way than that but given that I have few cycles left for thoughts not relating to copiers during the day I took it as an order and executed without delay.

The situation leading up to his visit to hell was, in so many words, shitty. I’m not sure if I have permission to speak of it here so I won’t but there was a subtle undercurrent to the nights proceedings. So Violet, Bit, and I had drinks and talked for a couple hours after which we hung out in the parking lot smoking like young miscreants. We gave Bit a ride back to his hotel and again hung out in the parking lot. Got home at about 11:00 and paid for it dearly today.

It was really cool to see him again and I don’t regret staying out later than I should have. Love you Bit, let’s not wait 2.5 years before we do it again. ^_^

Yes, That

I discovered Apple Geeks this morning and have been reading through the archives today. I came across this one and was struck by the truth and clarity of the observations on working in tech support.

Things I want for Christmas

December 12th, 2004
  1. A news aggregator that looks like RSS bandit, opens a new browser whenever I click on a link instead of hijacking one of the already open browser windows, and doesn’t use progressively more memory the longer it’s running.
  2. More time in the day for studying.
  3. A license for OneNote (my trial expired at the end of November and I miss the app dearly).
  4. A tablet PC.
  5. More sleep.
  6. An MSDN Universal Subscription.
  7. Nintendo DS’s for my entire family.

I think that’s it, I’ll let you know if I come up with anything else.

Rory Coins Some New Terms

December 10th, 2004

Just saw this over at Neopoleon.com:

InstaProtestersTM – These are people who wait around with blank signs and felt pens to protest whatever comes up (they also come in powdered form, and can be reconstituted anywhere, anytime)

Here’s the original post. Rory comes up with the greatest new words. My personal favorite is “painbow.”
