I hope you all had a nice holiday this last week. We here at the CRT: California Office had a generally quite day. My parents decided to spend this one in Texas so it was just Lady V, Big, Kurtz, our Grandmother, and myself at Thursdays table. The cooking duties were pretty evenly divided this year so nobody got to awfully stressed. We relaxed and cooked and ate the day away then topped it off with some pie and Halo 2 multiplayer on the big screen. I actually won twice that evening which as Big and Kurtz will tell you does not happen, EVER. ^_^

I’ve changed my mind
I take back everything I said about LiveJournal. Because of LiveJournal, I found This. A comic soap opera about gay animals that dress like people. The internet is awesome.
On another note: Woo! Four day weekend, motherfuckers!

On LiveJournal and Literature. (Mostly LiveJournal)
These LiveJournal image grabbers are an excellent way to gain insight into the thoughts of the internet’s more retarded and self-absorbed inhabitants. As quickly as I can click the link in my favorites menu, I can obtain a privileged perspective into the depths of the collective psyche of all the world’s drama queens and dipshit psuedo-intellectuals. I’ve come away with a few trends that i’d like to share with you all, because I am such a nice guy.
1) Introspection is a waste of time that could be better spent taking an internet quiz that will tell you which Care Bear you most resemble.
2) 50% of the 18-24 demographic attempt suicide at least ten times a day.
3) T-Shirts and body piercing are the most effective methods of self-expression in the modern world.
4) Despite what the books and movies might have made you think, Harry And Snape really just want to fuck each other all day long.
5) All the rednecks, neo-nazis, millionaires, and murderous Christian Fundamentalists banded together and elected Darth Vader as President.
On another note, I just finished Neal Stephenson’s “The System of the World”. It was a very entertaining book. I suggest you read the entire “Baroque Cycle” trilogy. Very good stuff.

Jeff Raikes Tells Stories
Some interesting anecdotes from Jeff Raikes, a VP at Microsoft in their Information Worker division. His comments go a long way towards proving that it’s tougher to be at the top than to have competition from all sides.

I’ll Find Time For It This Week
I have been a bad blogger this month but at least I have an excuse. First we (meaning Violet, the kids, and I) were sick, then Violet started a new job that has her getting up at four in the morning. Now Lady V and I are in the process of looking for a house to rent which will be immediately followed by moving. It’s all very exciting but leaves little time to write or do anything else for that matter.
When I come back I hope to talk about OneNote, Halo 2 (it doesn’t suck nearly as much as Halo), and some other shit.
See you when I can.

Somebody Hire Him
I’m at a loss for words about how brilliant this is. Somebody needs to hire this guy.

Taking an Unscheduled Break
Violet’s sick, the kids are sick, and so am I. Blogging is the furthest thing from my mind right now. See you in a day or two.
Here’s some pictures Lady V and I took to commemorate what we later found out to be the greatest fuck-up this country has ever known.

John C. Dvorak Spews About Podcasting
I’m a bit late to the Dvorak bashing party so please forgive me (read his original column here).
I would like to take this opportunity to say that John is either an idiot or the best devil’s advocate that I’ve ever seen. If he is in fact mentally challenged then we should collectively ignore him in hopes that he’ll go away. That’s the only way to get rid of brain dead technology pundits who got off the innovation train several stops back.
Now if it happens to be the later of the possibilities then I say Bravo! Dvorak has always had the ability to whip people into a frenzy about anything. I saw him do it daily on Silicon Spin and he’s still doing it in his columns. But there’s a problem with that. You can only piss people off so many times before they finally shrug their shoulders, give you the finger, and walk away. Sorry John but I think you’ve crossed that line with this one. People are way too emotionally attached to podcasting to even bother with you any more. Nobody’s laughing with you or agreeing with you this time and if this is your attempt to make podcasting better by flaming it crispy then you’ve failed.
Lighten up John, before we make you irrelevant.

I haven’t had time to go through the archives yet but this seems pretty interesting. Messages from Microsoft Executives delivered to your inbox. But why my inbox, why not an RSS feed?
